Non-toxic DIY tips for spring cleaning

Spring cleaning can be a nightmare or a stree-free task if you know in advance the methods that work on any kind of dirt, hardened grease, limescale or stains.

The best two things you can arm yourself with are rubbing alcohol for disinfecting and baking soda which will easily remove almost any kind of stain in the right combination with the right ingredients.

Baking soda work really well with lemon juice or white vinegar, which is also great for disinfecting.

But, of course, there are many other non-toxic ingredients you can use for cleaning.

Here’s how to make your very own floor disinfecting cleaning solution:

  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • 2 gallons of hot tap water
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap
  • lavender oil

Here’s how to make your own oven cleaner:

  • 1/2 cup of liquid soap
  • 1 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup organic white vinegar
  • 2-4 drops lavender essential oil (you can use any scent you like, or none at all)

Here’s how to make your own stain remover:

  • 1 part dish washing liquid
  • 2 parts 3% hydrogen peroxide

Here’s an efficient way to clean carpet stains: BEER.

Beer is great for light carpet stains such as juice or coffee. Just pour some beer on it, leave it for a few seconds and then thoroughly wipe.

For grass stains on clothes you can use baking soda mixed with white wine vinegar, and for whites you can use hydrogen peroxide if the stain is hard to get out.

If grease got on your clothes, you can use dish washing liquid or paste. They’re especially designed to remove grease.

To get your leather sofa to shine, after cleaning it wit white wine vinegar and using a soft cloth, you can use dried banana peel. Just rub the entire couch with it.

To make the sink squeaky white, use a little bit of tooth paste.

To clean your toilet and whiten it, at the same time, use baking soda and dish washer detergent.
