How to Treat Keloid Scars Naturally

Keloid scars represent an abnormal development of scar tissue, with an increased size as a result of an aggressive healing process. The keloid scars are often located on the chest, shoulders and back, holding a higher incidence on people with dark skin.

Keloid scars can occur suddenly after certain surgeries or minor skin lesions, or can be developed in time. Although this condition is not malignant, it must still be treated with herbal remedies or using medical procedures: radiosurgery or cryotherapy.

Lemon juice. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. It is an excellent remedy for treating scars, including keloid scars. Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice directly on the affected areas. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then rinse the skin with water.

Mustard oil. Mustard oil is a great remedy for keloids, particularly thanks to its antifungal properties. Apply a little mustard oil on problem areas three times a day.

Apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar reduces the reddish appearance and size of keloid scars. Apply vinegar on the problem areas and massage gently until is completely absorbed in skin pores. Before repeating the process, make sure that vinegar was completely absorbed in the skin, as this will facilitate the healing process.

Garlic. Garlic stops excessive proliferation of fibroblasts responsible for the appearance of keloid scars. Rub some garlic on problem areas and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly.

Baking soda. Baking soda is an excellent abrasive agent for skin exfoliation. Blend peroxide with baking soda in 3/1 ratio to prepare a paste. Apply the paste on the keloid to hasten the healing process and reduce inflammation.

Aloe Vera. Aloe vera is very effective for treating skin problems. It heals damaged skin, reduce inflammation and hydrates the skin. First clean the area thoroughly with warm water then apply the gel. Apply fresh aloe vera gel directly on the keloid.

The lavender oil. The lavender oil has skin rejuvenating properties and has been shown to be effective in healing scars. This oil also increases the rate of skin cell regeneration, a great thing when you want to prevent chronic scars. Apply a little lavender oil and gently massage affected areas for a few minutes.

Honey. Honey moisturizes and soothes the skin. Apply honey on keloid and gently massage the area. Honey will prevent accumulation of dead cells and improve blood circulation in the capillaries.
