Have you ever tried to read the ingredients contained by a mouthwash you buy from the store? I did. There are lots of chemicals and artificial colorings that I do not know what they mean. Moreover, I believe they do more damage than good.
So, for me the natural choice was to start and make my own mouthwash.
There are lots of variants, most based on mint. Is true that mint helps you get rid of bad breath, but it only mask the odors.
If you have real problems with bad breath then a cinnamon mouthwash is more appropriate because cinnamon helps kill the odor-causing bacterias, not only mask them.
Here is a simple cinnamon mouthwash recipe for which you need the followings:
- ½ tablespoon cinnamon;
- ½ teaspoon baking soda (optional);
- 1 ½ teaspoon honey;
- juice from 2 lemons;
- 1 cup of warm water.
You can mix the ingredients directly in the bottle you want to keep the mouthwash or mix them into a bowl and then pour them in the bottle.
Because I chose to use baking soda, I have mixed them outside the bottle. Be careful if you use baking soda: it becomes very sparking in contact with water so pour the water little by little.
The first thing I did: poured the cinnamon in the recipient, then added the lemon juice, honey and baking soda.
Then I’ve pour the warm water over them little by little and stirred well.
When the honey was all melted and the ingredients blended in, I’ve pour the composition in the bottle.
That’s all!
