3 Secrets That Every Woman Should Know When Cleaning the Oven Racks

The oven has suffered over the winter with all the food you’ve prepared. Therefore, spring cleaning should start with these important accessories: oven racks. If you are dealing with the problem of burns and fat deposits over the oven grids, here are 3 secrets that every woman should know.

  1. Clean the oven racks using baking soda

Here’s the most simple and effective way to clean grease and burns from the racks:

Step 1: Put a large towel on the bottom of the bathtub (this step prevents scratching the tub material).

Step 2: Put the oven racks over the towel and fill with very hot water until it exceeds the racks level.

Step 3: Pour in a glass of water a little dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of baking soda; let the racks to soak overnight.

Step 4: In the morning rub the racks with an abrasive sponge. You’ll notice the burnt is very easily removed.

  1. Clean the oven grids with vinegar

The grid becomes like new if sprinkled with vinegar and rubbed well with crumpled aluminum foil. You can also spray on the hot grid a solution of water and vinegar in equal quantities, leave it on for about 10 minutes, rub well the metal strips with a sponge soaked in vinegar and then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

  1. Clean the oven racks with ammonia

To remove dirt from the oven shelves, remove them from the oven and place them on an old towel in a large bowl for washing. You can also use the bathtub, although then you will need to thoroughly clean it, too. Fill the tank or tub with warm water and add 1/2 cup of ammonia. Allow the grates to soak for at least 15 minutes, then remove them, rinse them well with warm water and dry them before you put them back in the oven.
